This seemingly ‘unlikely’ director -actor pair could be yet belie the skeptics and  prove to be a major box –office draw with their upcoming joint –big screen venture!

The very idea of noted Hollywood Director and veteran British Theatre ace Sam Mendes, known for his essentially serious and thought provoking big – screen fares like ‘Away We Go’, ‘Road To Perdition’ and the multi Academy and Globe winning ‘American Beauty’, slipping into the director’s chair for the next ‘James Bond’ caper, would seem outrageous.

However as per a report carried by the Hollywood Reporter, it appears that Sam is indeed set to can the next ‘Bond’ feature starring the hunky, blue eyed Daniel Craig in the title role.

In what will be the 23rd in the series of ‘Bond’ franchises since Sean Connery set the legacy with the memorable ‘Dr. No’ and will see Dan Craig reprising the role of the smooth British secret agent after the smash –hit ‘Quantum of Solace’, the new feature will indeed mark a major departure for Sam in terms of the movie genres he has indulged in and present a whole new challenge.

However, Mendes, who is married to actor Kate Winslet, appears ready for the same. It is further learned that screen writer Peter Morgan has already gotten busy with penning the script for the movie in the company of franchise veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Here’s hoping this ‘unlikely pair’ will work their ‘Bond’ magic at the BO!
