With filming well underway for Skyfall, the next Bond film, the film’s producer, Michael J Wilson, has hinted that if he had it his way Daniel Craig will become the actor with the most Bond films to his name.
“Daniel’s been a terrific Bond, a superb actor and a terrific man. The fans love him and I don’t think there’s a better actor to play the part. Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s (Moore) record and do eight pictures", he said.
"Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream."
I’d agree that Craig has been a terrific Bond and added a new lease of life to a character and indeed a franchise that became stale and, frankly, a bit daft. These comments are reportedly backed by a multi-million pound offer so hopefully we’ll get to see much more of Craig as Bond in the future.
The actor hinted on Friday’s Kermode & Mayo show on Radio Five that he would also be open to starring in the final two parts of the Millennium trilogy should they end up being re-made/re-adapted, so he could be a very busy chap for the foreseeable future.
